The IGS station QUIN (Quincy) is not operational. The download computer is
broken. At this time we don't have an estimate for when the site will be
back on line. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The IGS station on Easter Island (EISL) is temporarily down due to a power
outage following a storm which took out the receiver power supply. We will
send replacement equipment down ASAP, and hope that we can be back in
operation within a week/week and a half, pending transportation to Easter
Island, etc.

Our apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.

Dear IGS community

A new IGS station RBAY, collocated with a tide gauge has been installed
at Richardsbay on the east coast of South Africa. Approximate
coordinates are:

Latitude (deg min) : - 28 47 44.10600
Longitude (deg min) : 32 4 42.19680
Elevation (m) : 34.2310

A logfile has been uploaded to the IGSCB.

This station was made possible through collaboration with JPL, CNES,
the University of Cape Town (Geomatics Dept), the SA Navy Hydrographer
and PORTNET.

We are in the midst of installing another (Guy please note) station at a
tide gauge in Simonstown, close to Cape Town, in collaboration with JPL, NOAA,
the University of Cape Town (Geomatics Dept), the SA Navy Hydrographer
and the Institute of Maritime Technology in Simonstown.

Regards and a special thanks to all our collaborators.

Ludwig

The IGS station Usuda (USUD) has been upgraded to an Ashtech Z-XII3
receiver, and is running off an external H-Maser frequency standard. New
data is available from doy 285 (October 11, 2000). The IGS log has been
submitted to the IGS Central Bureau.

Dear Colleagues,

A new site has been installed at the Radio Astronomy Observatory of Yebes,
Spain.

The site installation is a joint project of the Servicio de Programas
Geodesicos and the Centro Astronomico de Yebes, both branches of the Instituto
Geografico Nacional of Spain.

The Centro Astronomico de Yebes has great experience in VLBI techniques, with
its 14m antenna ant is now mounting a new 40m antenna.

The Servicio de Programas Geodesicos acts as the Operational Center for this
new station, as well as all GPS permanent stations of the national network
operated by the Instituto Geografico Nacional of Spain.

An important detail is that the external frequency standard is provided by a
hydrogen maser, which is also the main reference for the radio astronomical
observations at this site. Then antenna is mounted on a 1m high concrete pillar
constructed for this purpose at the top of the roof of the observatory main
building. The receiver is housed in a special room just below the antenna. Both
antennas, VLBI and GPS, have been tied up.

Data are available since May 19, 1999, but the station became operational with
its final configuration on June 22, 2000. Since Oct 1, 2000, daily files are
transferred to BKG on routine submissions. Also near real time data are
transferred to BKG since Oct 10, 2000, on a regular basis.

The site information form has been submitted to IGS CB

Site: Yebes, Spain
Site ID: YEBE
Type of receiver: TRIMBLE 4000SSi
Antenna: TRM29659.00 (DORNE MARGOLIN TRIM)
Height: 0.0000 m (bottom of chokering)
